ETOS
Endoscopic TransOrbital Society
A confluence for experts in
neurosurgery, maxillofacial, ENT, ophthalmology, and oculoplastic surgery. Advancing skull base surgery through the innovative application of endoscopic techniques
A Brief History Of Creation
"ENDO"
The word 'ENDO' reflects our commitment to employing endoscopic technology, which, offers optimal visualization of deep anatomical structures with minimal disruption of normal anatomy.
Skull base approaches that rely on endoscopy utilize natural openings, keyholes, and small hidden incisions to access the undersurface of the brain and the boney and fibrous corridors and compartments that house the brain’s vasculature and cranial nerves. In addition to the transorbital approach, other complementary approaches include the endonasal and supraorbital approach. The endoscopic transorbital approach is rooted in the rich history of endoscopy and recognizes the key technological advancements and pioneering figures who have shaped the field of endo-neurosurgery.
"ORBIT"
The term 'ORBIT' underscores our focus on the transorbital approach in particular, which supplements the endonasal and supraorbital approaches by providing complementary access to skull base structures that are not easily reached using these other approaches. Compared with the other corridors, the orbit represents the most novel gateway to paramedian ventral skull base targets.
Mission
The Endoscopic TransOrbital Society is dedicated to the advancement of skull base surgery through the innovative application of advanced visualization techniques such as endoscopy, with the ultimate goal of making surgery less invasive, safer, and more effective thereby improving patient outcomes.
Vision
A confluence for experts in neurosurgery, maxillofacial, ENT, ophthalmology, and oculoplastic surgery, dedicated to advancing endoscopic techniques.
Inspiration
ETOS means a way to revolutionizing skull base surgery through the advanced application of endoscopic techniques. Our mission harnesses the transformative power of endoscopy, a pivotal tool that has expanded the horizons of surgical possibilities.
